What is an indicia?

An indicia is an imprint directly printed on each mail piece, found on the upper right corner from the addressing block and takes the place of a postage stamp. Using an indicia signifies that the postage has been pre-paid and typically most mailhouses have the permit to imprint indicias instead of using physical mail stamps.
