You can send as few as 150 pieces for any available direct mail campaign in PostNow.
PostNow does not accept pre-printed mail pieces* for mailing services. However, there are companies that specialize in handling pre-printed items, such as One To One Mailing in Edmonton or other direct mail houses across Canada. Visit One To One Mailing for more information.
If you’ve already printed your mailers, the fees for preparing and mailing them will depend on the direct mail company you choose to work with. These costs can vary based on factors like the type of material and project scope. For a list of options, check out the Canada Post Partner Directory.
For DIY enthusiasts, Canada Post’s online tools, such as Precision Targeter, can help you plan and execute a direct mail campaign. These tools allow you to target specific neighborhoods, demographics, and more.
*When it comes to special items like calendars, magnets, or other unique materials, PostNow evaluates these projects on a case-by-case basis. Contact us to discuss the specifics of your project.
You can send direct mail campaigns to essentially any household or business address in Canada. Since we have access to all the addresses that Canada Post can deliver to, the only people that can not be targeted are those that have added themselves to the “Do Not Mail” list for Canada Post.
You can target by individuals (with your own data only), or you can target by full postal code (ie. T6B 2M2) or by Neighbourhood Walk (average 300-500 households).
Canada Post adds a Neighbourhood Mail transportation fee to all campaigns not inducted into the exact depot(s) closest to your delivery neighbourhoods.
In other words, unless you are willing to drive your campaign mail pieces to a specific dropoff depot or depots for larger campaigns, you are covering the cost for Canada Post to distribute your campaign to the appropriate depots for final sorting/delivery.
This transportation fee is often why you will see a published Neighbourhood Mail rate of $0.187 / piece, but the final price is $0.20 when working with a mail house or Canada Post directly.
At PostNow we include the transportation fee in all campaigns automatically.
Prices for a Direct Mail audience start at “free” and increase based on the dataset being accessed. Standard options for each mail type are listed below. More advanced data sets can be accessed from 3rd party providers like Environics.
From order to delivery can be as quick as eight business days for a Neighbourhood Mail campaign.
Once your campaign is inducted to a Canada Post facility, you can expect your campaign to be delivered based on the current Smartmail Marketing delivery standards. This information is found on pages 3-5 here – Canada Post Smartmail Marketing Delivery Standards.
Due to the complexity of determining when your campaign can reach homes, please feel free to contact our team for more details on your particular campaign.
